Need Help with my pioneer vsx-1019AH-K?
My receiver was working fine for a while. now im not getting any video out of it at all. i have a ps3 connected to BD, and a hdmi connected to HDMI 1 on a vizio xvt tv. im getting sound fine but i cant get any video. am i missing a connection or a setting? also the 1.adv MCACC doesn’t display on the tv, please help. thanks guys.
Hmm, sounds like there is no video because your tv is not on the right mode: it has to be set to the right input: ie: hdmi1 or whatever you have your hdmi cable from ps3 hooked up to.
And for your mmcacc thing: do you mean OSD? If so, osd can be displayed only via s-video cable… It is a quirk of these receivers.

Turtle Beach X1 question?
I’m sorry if this question isn’t worded properly, but I really don’t know what I’m talking about. I don’t know much about sound related things. I’m referring to using them for an Xbox 360 if that’s important.
I’m currently living with a roommate who owns a surround system. We have a TV hooked up to a receiver which is connected to a generic 5.1 surround system. The thing is, he also has a set of wireless Sennheiser headphones which connect to the receiver through the headphone jack. Currently, if I want to listen to the headphones and not the speakers, I can simply tell the receiver to turn the speakers off. When that happens, sound is only played through the wireless headphones.
My question is, if I bought these Turtle Beach X1′s, what would I need to do in order to use them? The way the current headphones connect to the receiver is an adapter. There are 2 small cables coming from the headphone unit(red and black), which go into an adapter (1/4″ I think) which then plugs into the receivers headphone jack. When looking at the instructions on the Turtle Beach site, it shows some red and white cables going from the headset into your TV.
So really my question is, on this diagram (http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efx1/howdoesitwork.aspx) would I be able to plug those red and white cables at the bottom into the 1/4″ adapter used by the Sennheiser headphones and then plug that into the headphone jack? Would that work?

Need help hooking up my PS2 to my home theater?
I am hooking up my new home theater system and had a question. I bought a sony 40″ lcd flat panel and mounted it on the wall and put my Pioneer Elite VSX-81TXV Receiver and other componets in a closet on the backside of the livingroom. My question is if I hook up my ps2 to my receiver is it possible that my wireless controller will work through the wall or is there another option. I’m new to this so any advice will help
Hi,
I won’t work. The wireless signal is very weak on the PS controller.
And even if you got lucky with the signal strength it won’t respond fast enough.
The only way I think you can do it is:
Drill a small hole in the wall and run an extension audio and video cable though the wall.
To make it look tidy you could mount an audio/video plug in wall plates both sides of the wall. Then join them together through the wall. On one side plug your extension cable in on the other side plug your PS cables.

I lean heavily on these reviews so I feel obliged to reciprocate. There are plenty of jobs here and elsewhere that tell you how great are the features (6 HDMI, MCACC, iPhone compatible, Zoning, etc) is and how big the sound (my entry is actually good sound Sony .) What I found most surprising thing about this device, the TV image improvement, has also noticed my wife, and she cares little about such things. TV is 1080i, which is still a great film, but the Pioneer is sharper and clearer, if the cable or DVD. Even the Wii seems HDish now! Netflix Wii stands up to vote. I like this. Pioneer had the best television, the race is over and kept going. These receptors are to the next.

My setup is simple but this thing can handle soooooo much more than I need and it sounds amazing! Love the iOS app too, although the tilt controls are a little silly.
I’m using it with my old sony ‘system-in-a-box’ speakers and it sounds amazing, I never got this quality sound out of my old equipment. Can’t wait to hook up some new speakers to this bad boy and get even better sound out.
The Internet Radio is kinda cool, although I’ll probably never use it. This thing has so many inputs/outputs I feel sort of silly with my simple setup… Just XBox, Wii, Airport Express in and a single HDMI cable out to the TV.
Up-scaling the standard RCA video input is kind of nice too. Since I’m piping everything out with HDMI to the TV I get 1080 on everything and it looks pretty good.
Very happy that the menu system allows you to disable & rename all the different inputs. Makes things very easy to remember, especially using the iOS app since they show up that way on there as well.
The Mic provided for tuning was awesome. I’ve never heard a system sound so good, even with my crappy little speakers.

Good sound but could have save some money
I had the Pioneer VSX-1020-K for several weeks now. I purchased it based on the CNET review on the VSX-1019-K model. The sound quality is on par with my old Pioneer Elite unit. However, the radio reception on the VSX-1020 was really bad. I used the same antenna that was on my Elite unit but the signal was worse than a $50 radio. Also the little flap hiding the USB port could have been better made. It was never flush with the face of the unit. The Elite flip out door was sturdier and better looking. The internet radio did not work as I expected. Many of the stations I get on my PC does not work with the URL only receive mode. I still have not found any new station to put into the receiver. I felt I could have saved $100 going with a unit without this feature. Other than that it has worked well so far. If you are serious about this machine, ask yourself if you’d really need the internet radio function. The feature may sound cool but it’s not worth the extra bucks, especially if you have a Wi-Fi Blu Ray player that can get Pandora or other internet radio. Check out the VSX-1019 for under $400 before putting your money on the 1020.

Hi, I am in India (Bangalore) and I own recently bought ONKYO HT SR 600 – 5.1 receiever near Speakers. I want to know which is the cheapest and best DVD player that is best suited near this. Black and white picture using “region free” DVD player?
I just purchased a Pioneer DV-400V “region free” player to play Region 2 DVDs on my North American small screen (Toshiba Regza 32HL67). It was guaranteed by the ebay peddler to play any dvd on any television. It plays the DVDs but the picture is contained by black and white. Im planning on getting Pioneer’s VSX1019AHK.

Im wondering if any experienced individual out there could comment on this receiver? I know there’s a couple of reviews on cnet, but I’m afraid if the ratings and reviews are overrated or the other way.
Also, I cant seem to find a good sound system, either 5.1 or 7.1 system. could you please recommend some and why you think its good?
Btw, my budget is US$2000 for both the receiver and sound system.
