Sony MDR 7506 – Most Versatile Headphones?

Some headphones are more fancy, with more bells and whistles, and of course a higher price tag. Others are more simple, without as many of today’s important features. The Sony MDR 7506, on the other hand, is neither of these things. What is the difference between these headphones?

I’m trying to figure out what the difference is because I don’t know which to buy, I want the best pair of headphones I can buy go UNDER $80.

The second one, the 600, has slightly better specs than the first one. Therefore it should have slightly better sound quality. But not much difference. This particular Kodak is a decent camera, but I still say that you NEED an optical viewfinder sometimes. I still say that the Canon is the best choice in this group. What is the BEST earphone???

I am trying to decide between the sennheiser cx500, ultmate ears super fi 5, and shure SE210 earphones. The Bose in-ears are superb. But I have tried the Sennheiser CX300 and it sounded just about the same. If the CX500 is an upgrade of the 300s then I bet it sounds way better than the Bose.
the Shures and Ultimates are probably the better of the bunch but don’t they cost way too high?

Which model of Sennheiser CX range is best?

Looking to get some new in-ear headphones for not that much money. From looking online everybody seems to rave about the Sennheiser CX 300-II. These look like a good bet as they are only £20 on Amazon, but there are a few other similarly priced Sennheisers e.g. CX 500, CX 400 etc.

Sound “quality” is so subjective you need to go and listen to these yourself. Advice on what I like is no use to you!

Why do Sennheiser Headphones have an “open air” design?

I would normally think that most people use headphones to listen to music so that others around them do not hear the music. But I have noticed that most Sennheiser headphones have an open air design which apparently leaks noise outside of the headphones and lets ambient noise in. Is this true and if so why do they do this?

You have to understand how speakers – and headphones – reproduce sound.

Both move a diaphragm back and forth to create vibrations in the air. If a speaker (or headphone) had a sealed back (or box), the diaphragm could not move back and forth freely; the sound would be non-linear to the original electrical signal: DISTORTION!

By using an open-air design the diaphragm moves freely, resuling in a more pure sound from the original electrical signal.

This is why most speeakers have either a “front firing port” or holes in the back of the speaker enclosure. It allows free movement of the speaker cone. You headphones use the same process, just on a smaller scale. Headphone can’t port to the front, so they “port” out the back.
