question about SLR lenses?????????
i have a Sony A200 camera with a 18-70mm and 75-300mm, I am considering to buy a 50mm f/ 1.8 sony or a 50mm f/1.7 Konica Minolta. My question is : Will any of these two lenses i am considering to buy will improved indoor (low light) pictures? Which of these lenses is better?
I have been using the 18-70mm lens with flash and i get Beautiful pictures. Are these lenses (50mm f/ 1.8 sony or a 50mm f/1.7 Konica Minolta ) to be used only when you are not allow to use flash? Or do you need to use flash anyways?
If you need to use flash with either of these lenses or not will be determined by just how low-light the situation is and how high you are willing to crank up the ISO. If you use the pop-up flash you can diffuse that so that you get more even light and more even shadows.
I wouldn’t pay too much for a Minolta 50/1.7 when you can get the Sony for $150. The reason is that the Sony will have special coatings for use on digital cameras to help with flare and reflections and the Minolta won’t. You also have to be careful buying a used lens maiking sure that it has no fungus. Sticky aperture blades are another problem and would have to be cleaned.
I own a 50/1.7 and it is a good lens but I bought it with a Minolta Maxxum camera for under $85 including the shipping. You can often find the 50/1.7 on ebay with a Minolta Maxxum 35mm camera and often cheaper than buying the lens alone. You may even find it with other Minolta Maxxum lenses. If you can get it for $100 or less in good condition, then it would be a good deal. But I wouldn’t pay much more than that for just that one lens.
It was very popular for a while and people were paying more for it, but then Sony released the 50/1.8 so the value of the Minolta dropped a bit.

Good for the price
Well coming from a 27 inch bulky tv with horrible sound this is quite the step up. Its very easy to set up probably an hour in total from unpacking it to post sound test with the mic calibrator.
Its very light weight and seems to kick but the sub woofer can take so much, the 1000 watt is nice but can overload the speakers if you try to really crank it I have it in a fairly small room its full and vibrant, but I think in a living room situation a better selection may be needed.
i have the Samsung 720p 42 inch plasma for around $500 and aPS3 for $300 and this sound system for $300 so over all Im loving a great cinematic experience for under $1200, but mind you you get what you pay for I’m sure to get the best you would have to double that figure.
Overall a great buy for the price shipping was probably around 10 days
Excellent Home Theater System
This Home Theater system is amazing. The set up is very quick and easy. Out of the box it sounds amazing there is no need to tweek it. This unit does not contain a bluray or DVD player. It is a component home theater system. That means that it is a receiver for HD equipment you already have like a HD cable/satellite box, bluray player, PS3, XBOX360. It has 3 HDMI ports to connect your equipment and one more that goes to the TV. After everything is plugged in correctly you got to make sure your equipment is set to the proper surround sound settings. in the case of a bluray and PS3. set the audio output to Linear PCM(LPCM)though the HDMI cable, and your cable box to its proper surround sound setting(dolby digital most likely). Now your ready to experience full HD picture and sound. It is 1000W of sound and its sounds crystal clear. I tested it with Avatar and Transformers II both on bluray. Each movie sounded amazing. The front speakers and rear speakers are loud and the unpowered sub woofer is great. Some will complain that the sub is unpowered, but really it does sound and feel excellent. it will satisfy most people. If your looking for a HD home theater system and already have a bluray player this is the system to get. It will save you money verses other bluray home theaters and its more versatile with its ports
Excellent sound, but with one huge flaw.
I would have given this home theater system FIVE stars if it weren’t for one major flaw: There is an extremely loud, high frequency hiss that comes from the receiver (yes the receiver, and not the speakers). And the hiss is too loud to ignore. I noticed this immediately after setup and asked for an exchange. Amazon shipped a replacement, and I noticed it again. I called Sony customer support and they informed me it was indeed a defective unit. What are the odds of me getting a defective unit 2 times in a row?
